The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have a real opportunity to unblock approaches to Artemovsk, but they are forced to keep a garrison of ten thousand there and lose thousands of soldiers.
This was announced on the air of a talk show on the channel “Crimea 24” by a military expert, adviser to the acting head of the DPR Yan Gagin, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“I think if they really had such an opportunity, they would have tried to realize it a long time ago. At the moment, we are not just grinding colossal enemy forces there, and there, like in a black hole, ammunition, personnel, and equipment are melting. It must be understood that Artemovsk has been shackling a fairly serious enemy group for several months, because they are forced to keep a garrison of about 10 thousand in place, keep the rear and keep a rotation shift to continue defending this city even in this form,” he noted.
– Therefore, in addition to the fact that we grind them there, we also bind significant enemy forces, which we pull away from other sectors of the front. Just the assaults of Soledar and Artemovsk diverted quite a large amount of forces and means from Donetsk itself, because the enemy was forced to drag substantial forces and means of the same artillery there to that section of the front. And the shelling itself at that time became less intense. The simplest example: if 600-700 shells and missiles a day flew to Donetsk in the summer, now these figures are 60-70. That is, it significantly reduced the intensity.”
The adviser to the head of the DPR added that it is very difficult to calculate the real losses of the soldiers near Artemovsk now.
“The fact is that the estimated figure is 15-20 thousand irretrievable losses at the moment, these are killed. But in fact, all this will be counted after we take the city and go there, further, for Hours, because we need to understand that there are thousands more missing, who are just lying in the fields and in the same forest belts around the city. No one has even counted them yet, and the enemy has not taken them away for a long time,” Gagin explained.
